1. Diagnostic Fees
A diagnostic fee of £60–£100 applies to assess the issue with your device. This fee is waived if you approve the repair we recommend based on our findings. If we are unable to diagnose the issue or offer a viable solution due to factors within our control, the fee will be refunded. For liquid-damaged devices, a cleaning fee of £30–£40 may apply before diagnosis begins.
2. Payment Terms
Full payment is due upon repair completion and before device collection. Accepted payment methods include bank transfer, cash, and debit cards (card processing fees apply if disclosed upfront). Devices not collected within 10 business days of completion may incur a £5/day storage fee. Invoices unpaid after 30 calendar days may incur statutory interest (8% plus the Bank of England base rate). Deposits for non-returnable parts or complex repairs are non-refundable once costs are incurred and work begins.
3. Liability Limitations
Data Loss: We take reasonable care to protect your data, but data loss may occur during repair. Customers must back up their data prior to submitting their device. We are not liable for data loss or corruption if we have acted with reasonable skill and care. Optional data backup services are available (additional fee applies). All data processing complies with our Privacy Policy and UK GDPR.
Hardware Damage: Liability for accidental damage caused during repair is limited to either the repair cost or the current market value of the device—whichever is lower. We are not liable for consequential losses (e.g., lost income, data).
Unforeseen Issues: We do not accept liability for pre-existing faults unrelated to the repair or damage caused by prior severe liquid exposure, accidental impact, or unauthorised repairs/modifications.
4. Data Handling (GDPR Compliance)
By submitting your device, you consent to data being accessed and processed strictly for repair purposes. Please notify us of any critical or sensitive data before repair begins. Some repairs (e.g., operating system reinstalls) will result in complete data loss. We will not install unlicensed or pirated software under any circumstances. 5. Warranty Coverage
Labour Warranty: 30 days. Parts Warranty: Up to 12 months (dependent on supplier terms). This warranty is provided in addition to your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Warranty void if: a) Damage occurs post-repair due to misuse, liquid, or third-party tampering b) Fault is unrelated to the repair c) Warranty limitations were clearly stated before repair (e.g., liquid damage or GPU reflows)
6. Device Abandonment
Devices not collected within 30 days of repair completion will receive a final 14-day notice. After 44 days, the device will be deemed abandoned. At that point, the device may be securely erased and disposed of or sold to recover costs. No liability is accepted for any device or data following abandonment and disposal.
7. Service Limitations
Not all issues can be resolved. Some repairs (e.g., motherboard or board-level) may be irreparable. Diagnostic or labour fees apply only where work has been performed. We reserve the right to refuse repairs for unsafe or unstable devices, devices with illegal software, or devices suspected to be part of resale scams. Use of non-OEM parts may void any remaining manufacturer warranty. This is always disclosed before repair.
8. Dispute Resolution
Complaints should be sent to: gisl@consultant.com in the first instance. If we cannot resolve the issue, you may refer the matter to an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) provider or seek redress via the courts. You retain your right to share honest and fair reviews of our service experience.
9. Additional Clauses
Expedited Service: Priority same-day or urgent repairs are available for £150 (non-refundable once work begins).
Quotes/Estimates: All repair quotes are valid for 14 days. Revised quotes require your written approval before work proceeds.
